Residents looking to adopt a puppy from Adopt-A-Pet of Fenton should be aware of a scam. Director Jody Maddock posted on the shelter’s Facebook page that someone named Grady Michael is misrepresenting himself as CEO of Adopt-A-Pet and scamming people out of money, and taking deposits for puppies he says he will deliver to them.

“Please do not engage with this individual. Our phone number is (810) 629-0723. Our Facebook is Adoptapetfenton.com and our email for dogs is dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. We will not run your credit card prior to you getting your puppy,” the post said.

Sgt. Curt Harrington from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said they will not be investigating it because the calls originated from New Jersey.
