After two years of hosting an altered version of one of the area’s biggest fundraising festivals, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church’s Applefest Committee has announced that the traditional festival in Fenton is back for 2022. It’s also the festival’s 50th anniversary.

The Applefest Committee and its volunteers are excited to present Applefest 2022 on Sept. 15-18. Community members are invited to join in the fun the third weekend of September and support this major fundraiser for this local parish.

Back this year is the Skerbeck family carnival and rides, the entertainment tent, the chicken dinner, Friday night fish dinner, pancake breakfasts, Fr. Harvey’s chili, coffee and doughnuts, apple pies, apple pie auction, elephant ears, farmers market and craft booths, and tons of games.

“We are most excited to provide some new features, such as five food trucks and craft vendors,” said co-chair Miriam Sage. “The raffle is an important aspect of the festival. There will be a car or cash prizes, but new and exciting this year is a three-year lease for a Chevy Blazer that is being donated by Vic Canever Chevrolet.  So try your luck and buy a ticket!”

The third annual Applefest golf outing in memory of Ron Lockwood takes place Friday, Sept. 9 at The Preserve.

In celebration of the 50th Applefest anniversary, special events are planned throughout the festival.

The Applefest Committee seeks additional volunteers to donate their time and talent to make this Applefest comeback a success. Email to sjapplefest@gmail.com for details. Chairs are needed for pizza, dirt patrol, road race, kids games, cake walk.

The official website for Applefest is Stjohnfenton.org/Applefest.
