David Maguire of the American Legion Post 149 in Holly provides inspiration to high school artists. He is seeking large paintings of the Traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall, which is scheduled to be on display in Holly Aug.3-8.

The Traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall will be in Holly for the first time Aug. 4-8. It will be on display at the Karl Richter Campus.

The traveling wall committee will hold one of several fundraisers to bring the wall to Holly.

“A Soldier’s Story” will be presented June 24, at 7 p.m., at the Holly VFW Post 5587. The event is open to anyone and donations will be accepted at the door.

A Soldier’s Story is a series of stories written by Vietnam veteran Joe Mishler of Holly. He has interviewed hundreds of veterans over the years and has created this presentation.

The stories date back to the Civil War and come down to the present. Some of the stories are funny, some will leave you wondering and others deal with war. This is the first time the collection will be presented in Holly.

The stories are presented by four actors from Clarkston Village Players: Al Bartlett, Mike Cavin, Beth DeGuise and Susan Craves.

VFW Post 5587 is at 201 Airport St., Holly. Parking is in back.

Holly American Legion is sponsoring the wall project. Wall T-shirts will be available at the June 24 fundraiser. They cost $20. Refreshments will be served.

For more information, contact Mishler, project co-chair at (810) 348-9960 or email jmm1967@comcast.net.
