Dakota Beeler

Dakota Beeler, 18, is a Holly High School senior. She hopes to go to Oakland University and is excited about a possible career in education. She is most proud of earning A’s and B’s in all of her classes, despite their difficulty. “Even though there were a few that were complicated, I fought through them with good grades,” she said.

What is the best thing about your mom and dad?

They raised me in church. I’ve been going to church since I was born and I am very thankful that I could be raised this way. Another thing about my parents is they always give my siblings and me money even if it’s the last bit of money they have. They are amazing and I couldn’t have asked for any better parents.

What do you like to do for fun?

What I like to do for fun is sing. I am in the Main Street Show Choir at my school and I hope to do something with singing in the future along with teaching. Almost everyone in my family sings, too, and my parents and grandparents have their own CD. Their album is called ‘Livin’’ and their group is called ‘Truth Be Told.’

What career possibility excites you?

Teaching lower elementary excites me. I think it would be great for me because I love little kids and I’m very good with them. I am currently in a class called ‘Teacher Cadet’ and I go to different classes to get a feel of helping students. It is a very interesting class and it definitely has made my decision of wanting to be a teacher clearer.

If you had to give up your cell phone and internet for a weekend, but were able to do anything, what would you choose?

I would travel to Paris or Australia. It’s on my bucket list to visit these places so I would definitely go to either one.

What’s one thing you’d like to do before you graduate?

One thing I would like to do before I graduate is get my license. I’ve been able to get it for a few years now, but I haven’t yet. My plan was to get my permit when I turned 18, but money and time have gotten in the way.

What are two things you can’t live without?

Family and God. I love my family so much. They are my favorite thing in the world and I couldn’t imagine living away from them. I’ve done it for a month and it was really hard. I also can’t live without God because I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Him.

What qualities do you look for in friends?

They need to be honest and trustworthy. I don’t have many friends, but the ones I do have are honest and trustworthy. They also have many more amazing qualities.

Who do you admire the most who isn’t a family member?

Tyler Joseph from my favorite band Twenty One Pilots. I admire him because he is an amazing singer/songwriter who has made four albums with his band mate Joshua Dun. One day I hope to meet them and be able to make amazing music like them.
