The summer movie season will begin this month, and production companies have set dates for this summer’s must-see movies. From comedies, to action movies, to reboots, there are movies for all interests.

The Nice Guys

May 20

Starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, this 1970s thriller is set in Los Angeles where a private eye and a hired gunman investigate the kidnapping of a young girl. They’re described as blue-collared heroes.

X-Men: Apocalypse

May 27

Some of the most famous mutants will come back, but this time for a fight set in the 1980s. Mutants Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Jean Gray (Sophie Turner) will battle super villain Apocalypse as teenagers.

Finding Dory

June 17

The sequel to “Finding Nemo” has been long awaited and viewers will see Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, on a quest to find her home and her family. She befriends a whale shark along the way and rekindles an old friendship.


July 1

A girl named Sophie, played by Ruby Barnhill, encounters the Big Friendly Giant who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because unlike his peers refuses to eat boys and girls.

The Legend of Tarzan

July 1

A civilized Tarzan, played by Alexander Skarsgard, goes back to Africa to serve as a trade emissary, but gets played by the Belgian captain, portrayed by Christoph Waltz, who he had agreed to work with.


July 15

Four women will tackle the ghosts terrifying the residents of New York. The ghostbusters are played by Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and two Saturday Night Live veterans, Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon. They have a male receptionist played by Chris Hemsworth.

Ice Age: Collision Course

July 22

Viewers will remember Sid the sloth from the previous Ice Age movies. What isn’t as believable is that he has two girlfriends on the cusp of the world coming to an end.

Star Trek Beyond

July 22

In a classic science-fiction tale with the crew of the starship Enterprise, Captain Kirk, played by Chris Pine, gets stranded on an alien planet with Spock, played by Zachary Quinto, and Bones, played by Karl Urban. A new species of aliens are introduced in this film directed by Justin Lin.

Suicide Squad

August 5

Some of the most famous villains will come to the big screen when the characters are offered a deal: work for a secret organization taking down other bad guys, or die. Viewers will see characters like the Joker, played by Jared Leto, Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie, and Deadshot, played by Will Smith.
