More than 100 local musicians will perform with the Fenton Community Orchestra and Fenton High School Jazz Orchestra in upcoming December concerts.

Concert dates are Thursday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 8, both at 7:30 p.m. at the Ruby Zima Auditorium at Fenton High School. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated, said Jennifer Fleck, FCO executive director.

FCO’s full orchestra and FHS Jazz Orchestra will perform a variety of classical, holiday and jazz standards under the baton of conductor Andrew Perkins.

“We have had a fantastic start to our eighth season,” Fleck said. “It kicked off with a Concert in the Park on July 3 with an orchestra from France. In September, we formed a new wind ensemble that will premiere on Friday, Dec. 8 under the direction of Timothy Martuch. We received our fourth grant from the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.”

The Thursday concert will begin with Simply Strings, the intermediate string orchestra, under the direction of Jane Ball. Group reservations for that evening are now being taken by contacting Fentonorchestra.org.
