Traditionally, the first week of May is recognized as staff appreciation week for school districts across the country. It provides all of us with an opportunity to say “thank you” to those staff members who work so hard to support our students all year long.

Whether it is a bus driver, custodian, teacher, food service employee, aide, secretary or administrator, each and every one of them plays an integral role in making sure we are providing a quality education in a safe and healthy environment.

In a year that has been full of twists and turns, ups and downs and lots of uncertainty, the everyday “Heroes in Education” have adapted, embraced changed and looked for unique ways to make this school year a success.

During the week of May 3 – May 7, Fenton, Linden and Lake Fenton schools will be celebrating the heroes in our districts. There are so many ways to recognize and honor these individuals. This could include snacks, small tokens of appreciation, lunch, T-shirts, signs, discounts from local businesses or just a simple note to say “thank you.” Just knowing that people appreciate the work they do every day, is very meaningful for those who work in education.

No matter what school district your child attends, I encourage you to send a note to a staff member letting them know how much you appreciate their efforts.

To all of the “Heroes in Education,” We Appreciate You! — From your local superintendents.
