Lake Fenton Community Schools

It is hard to believe it is almost March and we are planning for our year end activities such as award ceremonies, commencement, senior night and grade level transition activities.  In addition, we have already started planning for the 2021-22 school year.  After a year full of ups and downs, we are all looking forward to the future months and hoping for the ability to celebrate the many traditions we have missed so much. Here are some important dates and information to help you in your planning.

Class of 2021 commencement

June 6 is slated as graduation day for the class of 2021. We will continue to monitor any updates from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on gathering limits and plan accordingly.

Kindergarten round up

This will take place on March 11 at 5:30 p.m. and it will be a virtual event. If this is your first child starting school or the youngest of your crew, I encourage you to participate. Starting kindergarten is such an exciting time for our kiddos and the West Shore staff makes this evening extra special for our Lake Fenton families.

Preschool registration for 2021-22 is open

The Lake Fenton Early Learning Center, which is in the administration wing of the middle school, is currently enrolling children ages 2 ½-4 years old for its tuition based preschool programs. With the welcome addition of the West Shore PSK team to our building, we now offer four tuition based Pre-K classrooms and two GSRP classrooms. GSRP or Great Start Readiness Program is a state funded preschool that is free to families who qualify. This year the Early Learning Center partnered with Camp Copneconic to provide full day GSRP students with hands-on, outdoor education four days a week. This partnership yielded tremendous opportunities for concept development and exploration for our young learners. We will continue with this partnership going forward, and we will begin to open up these experiences to our other classrooms during the 2021-2022 school year.

If you have not had a chance to see the Early Learning Center, I encourage you to contact Director Chelsea Horton to schedule a time to visit.

For more information about school of choice with Lake Fenton Community Schools, go to lakefentonschools.org or call Terry Zalewski at (810) 591-2532 to schedule a time to come to the Administrative Services office.

At this time of the year, when we are ready for winter to be over and the snow to melt away, we must look forward to our spring and summer activities and the warm sunshine that will fill our days.

Proud to Be BLUE.
