M ore than 20 years ago, my wife and I took a trip to northern California. It was one of our best vacations ever, with the highlight being the two nights we spent in beautiful San Francisco. Today, that is no longer the case. Represented in Congress by Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and ruled for years by Democrats, San Francisco is fast becoming one of the most disgusting places in the U.S.
The homeless problem is out of control, mirroring some of the dirtiest slums in the world. There are more than 7,000 homeless people roaming the city. Human feces is strewn everywhere. San Francisco’s new mayor, London Breed, stated, “a cleaning crew will clean up an area, but right after they leave, maybe an hour or two later, the place is filled with (rhymes with ‘it’) again.”
One frustrated resident emailed The San Francisco Chronicle about the problem, “Last night, I had to threaten violence to a man smoking crystal meth on my front porch. Things have been getting worse and worse on my block since 2010, and the city does nothing to fix it.”
One woman says she struggles “to sleep at night because of the nightly sounds of screaming and fighting wafting up from the street below.”
A major medical conference changed its venue to another city for 2018 because past attendees were afraid to walk on the streets. This will significantly affect the city since tourism is its biggest industry. The doctors’ conference generated $40 million from its 15,000 attendees in each of the past years.
Despite the fact that many of the homes and apartments are small and jammed up close together, San Francisco now averages the highest median rent in the U.S. It’s also why San Francisco lost more residents than any other U.S. city in 2017.
Ridiculous zoning regulations and building codes have increased the cost of housing. Absurd height restrictions waste valuable space. In much of the city, it is illegal to build anything taller than 40 feet high.
Years and years of putting transportation dollars into mass transit instead of the highways has been catastrophic for drivers. Liberal Democrats thought by neglecting the highways they could force people into using mass transit, but like most Democratic agendas, it didn’t work. San Francisco ranks fifth in the country for worst traffic congestion. There seems to be no end in sight to the level of gross mismanagement as long as the Democratic machine stays in power. The flight out of the city is escalating every day.
The only good thing about the tragic destruction of a once-grand city like San Francisco is that it provides a crystal clear picture of what life is like under the thumb of tax-happy Democratic policies of “massive taxation and complete government control of all aspects of life.”
Liberal-dominated California is self-destructing under Democratic rule — residents are fleeing by the tens of thousands due to chronic escalation of taxes, much of which supports the illegal immigrants with free college tuition, driver licenses, state-funded healthcare and the removal of the word ‘alien’ from California’s labor code.
If all the above is what you desire for your life, then vote with the Democratic liberals.
If you want to keep the money you earn, if you want your family to live in a safe environment and if you want to pay less taxes, then vote conservative.
It really is that simple.
