VG’s Grocery has created a whole new concept of grocery shopping with the completion of total store renovations at both of its Fenton stores.
The Remodel Grand Opening is set at both stores for Sunday, Oct. 14 during regular store hours, with storewide food sampling and demonstrations throughout many departments.
“Our goal is that at 4:30 p.m. every day, we can help our customers answer the question, “What’s for dinner?” said Dave Hogoboom, VG’s district manager for its parent company, SpartanNash in Grand Rapids. Customers will see the variety of ways VG’s is now helping them put food on the table for their families.
“We’ve totally adapted our Fenton stores to meet the needs of all the ways our customers are now shopping and cooking,” said Larry Allen, store manager of VG’s Grocery at 18005 Silver Parkway. “There’s more of a focus on health and wellness, and we’ve added more products and organics.”
At both VG’s locations, customers will notice a brighter store with a better flow between departments, creating convenience and ease for food shopping and preparation.
The bulk of the remodeling has taken place in the deli department, which now boasts the new Betty Kaye’s fresh smoked meats with meal solutions for just about everyone.
Smoked brisket, fresh bratwurst, smoked pulled pork, turkey legs and two mac-and-cheese varieties are made daily on-site at the Silver Parkway VG’s, which also supplies the north Fenton store at 1390 N. LeRoy St.
“We’ll have lunch specials, dinner specials and catering options,” Allen said. “People can also sit in our café area and enjoy their meal at VG’s.”
“We’ve also enhanced our Caesar Salad Bar, our Mediterranean Bar and have added a new Chicken Wing Bar and Asian Bar, to complement our existing fresh sushi,” Hogoboom said. “Watch for our new pizza station, where we can cook a pie for you or have one hot and ready to go.”
The Fresh Divide produce department offers fresh food prep, so customers can have their produce sliced and diced while they shop. There’s also a selection of vegetables already prepped and chopped, to make food prep quicker and easier.
Customers will now be able to squeeze their own orange juice in the Fresh Divide area or make their own peanut butter in the bulk nuts area, or take home pre-made containers.
“We’ve also expanded our product varieties in the center of the store, focusing on more specialty food items and organics,” Hogoboom said.
These new store renovations have come on the heels of VG’s Grocery’s very successful new Fast Lane curbside and home delivery programs.
“We know grocery shopping is a chore and our job is to make it easier and faster for everyone,” Hogoboom said. “The Silver Parkway VG’s is our number one Fast Lane store in Michigan, based on the number of orders.”
