Heartland Hospice is looking for volunteers. Any adult, 18 years or older, can serve as a hospice volunteer. Some volunteers will make direct visits with patients and families while others may prefer to volunteer in the office. For example, volunteers can visit with patients and families, provide the comfort of touch by holding hands; play music, read stories. Office volunteers would make copies, phone calls, scanning, faxing and mailings. If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions, call Laura Scott, Heartland volunteer coordinator at (810) 230-1318. Heartland Hospice providers are wherever you call home; in your house, a skilled nursing center, an assisted living facility or independent living facility. Their caregivers help create individualized care plans, set personal goals, and manage pain and symptoms. Every patient is different, with different challenges, different needs, different family and friends.
