Jim and Carey Abraham take pride in being hands-on owners at Abe’s Storage in Holly, adding a more personal dimension to this industry.

“We are on-site at Abe’s Storage, able to monitor the premises, offer security and answer questions, etc.,” said Jim, an automotive consultant. “Because we are independently owned, we can work with our customers on a personal basis.”

He and Carey, a teacher in Holly schools, took over the business in February and are beginning to make improvements to the seven-acre outdoor storage site, including a new parking lot.

The business also includes 137 indoor units with sizes from 5x10 up to 10x30, with doors at both ends. “We have the best prices in the area,” added Jim. “We’re at least $10-$15 less per month than anyone else. If you find someone with a lower price for a comparable unit, we can beat it.” Right now, Abe’s Storage is offering a special for new customers who sign up for three months — they’ll get one month free.

Abe’s Storage is also a one-stop destination for your next residential or commercial move. In addition to providing U-Haul trucks in several sizes, they sell moving supplies, packing materials, security locks, etc. “We have access to some unique moving products,” added Jim. “If you have something of an unusual size or shape to move, we likely can find the packaging for it. There’s even a box specifically designed to safely move flat-screen TVs.”

The Abrahams credit the Small Business Administration (SBA) with enabling them to get a loan to purchase the business. “It’s been a huge advantage for us,” said Jim. “I’d tell anyone to at least try for an SBA loan. It’s not nearly as hard as you think.”

Abe’s Storage is located at 10433 N. Holly Road, toward Grand Blanc, telephone (248) 343-8855.
