Lifelong area resident, Helen Horcha will turn 100 on Aug. 16, 2017. Helen was born in Youngstown, Ohio and moved to Michigan at an early age. She married Joe Horcha, and together, they ran an excavating company in the Flint area. After Joe’s death, Helen moved to Fenton. Helen has always been known for her cooking skills and her fabulous family meals. Her hobbies include reading, painting, crocheting and card playing. At 100 years of age, she continues to maintain a positive attitude, quick wit and great sense of humor. She has four children: Joan Horcha (Jerry Haddad), Jerry (Paula), John (Zoe) and Jan (Mike) Richards. There are seven grandchildren: Dawn (Mark) Nelson, Lisa Taylor, Matt (Brenda) Horcha, Kate (Jason) Bishop, Stacey Horcha, Bart (Karina) Horcha and Patrick Richards. There are nine great-grandchildren: Eric Nelson, Rachel and Luke Taylor, Hanna and Isabella Horcha, Benjamin and Bodin Bishop, Jonathan and Kaelyn Horcha. Helen lived independently until a year ago, and now resides at Tanglewood Assisted Living of Fenton. There will be several birthday celebrations, and a family dinner celebration on Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017.
