Holly’s playoff chances to a turn for the worse on Friday night.
Lapeer West’s C.J. Melton had a two-yard run in overtime, leading the Panthers to a 27-21 victory against Holly Friday night.
The loss means the Bronchos fall to 2-4 overall. It also means the Brochos are going to need to win their last three games and hope that a 5-4 record is good enough to get them into the state playoffs for a third straight season.
Holly trailed 21-0 after one quarter, but got a 42-yard fumble return for a TD by Devin Papuga, cutting the gap to 21-7. Then, with 41 seconds left in the half, Johnny Williams completed a 19-yard TD pass, cutting the gap to 21-14 by halftime.
In the fourth quarter, Williams had a 41-yard TD run, tying the score at 21-all.
Williams finished the game with 184 rushing yards.
