Colin Eugene Thompson, 39, of Groveland Township has been charged with murder.

Paul Walton, chief assistant prosecutor for Oakland County said at the request of Michigan State Police detectives, the prosecutor’s office authorized arrest warrants against Thompson for first-degree premeditated murder of Michele (Missy) Coakley, 40, also of Groveland Township.

Walton said Coakley was killed on Friday, Sept. 21 in Groveland Township and that Thompson and Coakley lived together.

First Lt. Marvin Jenkins of the Michigan State Police said troopers responded to the 16000 block of Dixie Highway, near Wildwood Drive in Groveland Township at 12:57 p.m. last Friday. Since it is an open investigation, Jenkins could not elaborate as to how Coakley was killed or what the autopsy revealed.

Coakley leaves behind her four children, mother and brother.

Thompson preliminary exam in Oakland County is expected to take place within the next few days.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, however there are some questions that need to be answered. Why the zip tie? Why were there defensive wounds on Michele Coakley's hands? Did she really do this to herself? Was it even possible for Michele Coakley to do this to herself?

I really think we need to let Michele Coakley rest in peace. We need to let a jury decide this case. Jurors are intelligent souls who listen to the actual evidence and make wise decisions.
